Phi Omicron Zeta Talks to Newton High Students about Hazing

Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. - Phi Omicron Zeta chapter hosted an Anti-Hazing Rally at Newton High School in Covington, Georgia on April 17, 2015.  A PowerPoint presentation was developed from the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Anti-Hazing material.  The PowerPoint was presented to the six hundred member senior class by Soror Dorothy Moss and Soror Conneva Hall.  Key information was shared with students about hazing and how to empower themselves when put in a situation that involves hazing. Students were also reminded that hazing is not limited to sororities and fraternities, but also takes place in the military and marching bands.   In addition to the PowerPoint presentation, the Rally included a Divine Nine Forum where Zetas, Sigmas and Deltas shared information on the negative impacts of hazing.  Each student that attended the Rally was also given an Anti-Hazing quiz to reinforce the learning and a pen/stylus with a “No Hazing Zone” logo imprinted in blue.  The principal of Newton High School, Mr. John Ellenberg, thanked Phi Omicron Zeta for sponsoring the Rally and shared his commitment to the school’s partnership with the chapter.  A reporter, Ryan McKenzie, from the Newton Citizen Newspaper covered this event.
