Alpha Alpha Kappa Zeta Autism Awareness Month
The ladies of the Alpha Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter along with members of Rho Xi Zeta Chapter participated in the B.L.U.E. Awards (Better Life Understanding Everyone) on April 29, 2017. The event was held to shed light on autism. Autism affect 1 in 68 children and is 4.5 time more common in boys. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.

Chi Pi Zeta's Finer Women 5K Walk/Run
Chi Pi Zeta
participated in the March of Dimes initiative by hosting a 5K walk/run
in Hinesville, GA on March 25, 2017. This was an exciting event for our
chapter because the March of Dimes is an organization that many members
hold dearly in their hearts.
On the day of the walk, the sun came out, the weather was nice, and members enjoyed good company with the participants. All walk participants were able to discuss the purpose of the event as they waited for the walk to start. The wait time before the walk began also gave chapter members the opportunity to share more about the chapter with the community.
Everyone in attendance was excited, especially those who traveled from Statesboro, GA and Jacksonville, FL. Participants visited with old friends and made new ones.
Following a highly energized walk/run, participants received their medal, of which they were proud, and fellowshipped with bananas, oranges and water.
The chapter would like to thank all of the participants, members and friends who came out to support this initiative. Your time, energy, and support was greatly appreciated.

Newnan Zetas Get Physical
Alpha Alpha Kappa Zeta participated in a 5K Walk along with other chapters across Georgia to bring awareness to the importance of exercise. On March 25, 2017, AAKZ sorors laced up their sneakers for several trips around the trails at Newnan Utilities’ Carl Miller Park. Before beginning their journey, they stretched to loosen up muscles.
The chapter is also a partner of the Summit YMCA, where healthy lifestyles are promoted.
Omicron Alpha Zeta's Finer Women 5K Walk/Run

University, the Omicron Alpha Zeta Chapter commemorated its Finer
Womanhood Observance with a Sisterly Love outing and the State of
Georgia Finer Women 5K Walk/Run.
The day began with a Sisterly Love outing consisting of a MIXXEDFIT warm up session led by Instructors Alicia Miller and Tina Billings of RAM Fit, Columbus, Georgia. Later, sorors and guests participated in a 5K walk/run around the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University.
Participants received a certificate and a finisher’s medal for completing the 5K Run/Walk. Proceeds from the 5K walk/run benefited the March of Dimes, March for Babies Program.

Omicron Alpha Zeta's "Coming Home to Zeta" Reclamation and Rededication 2017
Americus, Georgia (March 11, 2017) – In
recognition of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s “Coming Home to Zeta”
Reclamation and Rededication Month, the Omicron Alpha Zeta Chapter of
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. reclaimed three (3) sorors who “let their
footsteps lead them back to Zeta” and held its rededication ceremony.
Soror Alecia Pinckney said, “I reclaimed because I returned back to school to Georgia Southwestern State University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. I missed the comradery of my sorors. Coming back feels awesome!”
Soror Ke’Andrea Towns said, “Another soror approached me on returning to Zeta. I missed the social interactions, service, bonding, and my sorors. My sorors helped me to get through several life experiences. I was nervous at first, and then excited to get back and stay back!”
Soror Charlie Lemmons said, “Previously, I devoted all of my time to caring for my family, so I was unable to participate in many community activities. However, my sorors always stayed in touch with me. After two sorors contacted me on reclaiming, I realized that I do not have to go through life’s circumstances alone. I know that I can depend on my sorors for support. It feels great to return to Zeta!”

March Madness at Rainbow Elementary School
Rainbow Elementary School in Decatur has
been Sigma Mu Zeta’s adopted school for over ten years. The chapter
has participated in the school's Drug Free Red Ribbon Week assemblies,
Mother Day luncheons, and yearly sorority displays during Black History
month, volunteered during field day events and presented awards to the
“most improved” students at award day programs in May.
This year in March, Rainbow Elementary School was selected as one of the two schools for the Georgia State leadership Conference Z-HOPE project. The school received over 1,000 school supplies from this project that were delivered after the conference.
Sigma Mu Zeta also had Christmas in March for the school’s nurse by donating items on her wish list the chapter received this year.

Iota Tau Wins Undergraduate Chapter of the Year
The Iota Tau chapter (Armstrong State
University in Savannah, GA) won Undergraduate Chapter of the Year at the
2017 Georgia State Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA.
During the course of the conference, the chapter also won several Z-HOPE awards including first place for March of Dimes fundraising. Iota Tau raised over $1,000 for the March of Dimes in 2016. Their goal is to raise the bar even higher for their 2017 March of Dimes fundraising.
